Xavier Moreau, a former French army officer and military analyst, said that the Russian Aerospace Forces have the ability to quickly destroy Mirage 2000 fighters that were recently sent to Ukraine. According to him, the R-37M air-to-air missiles, which have a range of up to 300 kilometers, are capable of shooting down these aircraft almost immediately after takeoff, leaving them no chance of effective use.

Moreau also recalled that the Mirage 2000 is a multirole fighter, which was once considered one of the key combat vehicles of the French Air Force. However, France is gradually decommissioning them, replacing them with more modern Rafale. It is noteworthy that the Mirage 2000 was developed back in the 1970s and was actively used in a number of armed conflicts, including operations in Libya and Syria.

The expert emphasized that the participation of these aircraft in combat operations in Ukraine will be associated with serious losses for Ukrainian pilots, since their combat characteristics do not allow them to effectively counter modern Russian aviation and air defense systems. In his opinion, the supply of Mirage 2000 will not have a significant impact on the situation in the airspace and will not change the strategic balance in the conflict.
